Some less common types of material handling vehicles

If you ask any man in the street 'what's a forklift truck?', he is with all likelihood going to be able to identify one with no problems.

Ask the same man about a MEWP or Telehandler and your likely to get a different response. Here are some of the more unusual vehicles that our instructors can certify your staff on.

Multi-Directional

Multi-directional Forklifts allow movement for long and awkward loads in all four (or eight) directions, and with all the benefits of counterbalanced forklifts, sideloader forklifts and narrow aisle lift trucks in one vehicle. These versatile machines can be used indoors and out.

Traffic Marshaller (formerly Vehicle Banksman)

The main role of a traffic marshal is to ensure the smooth movement of traffic throughout the site and to direct vehicles towards their allocated areas and/or parking spaces.

Container Handler (empty)

With lift capacities up to 9.9kgs these models are designed to transport unloaded (empty) steel shipping containers. Empty container handlers feature a wide mast, allowing them to create stacks ranging from 5 to 8 containers high.

Container Handler (loaded)

Loaded container handlers offer lift capacities up to 40.8kgs and stacking heights up to 5 containers high, allowing you to handle heavy loads with ease

LLOP (Low level Order Picker)

Orders can be picked at low level by taking individual pieces or packages stored as unit loads, or stored in the spaces in racking units enabled for this. Low level order picking involves unit loads being placed at a height that lets them be comfortably accessed by an operator on foot

Telehandler

A telehandler, also known as a telescopic handler forklift is a hugely versatile lifting machine that is most often used in the construction & farming industry. They feature telescopic arms that can lift loads and extend/retract to adjust the maximum reach/lifting height of the machine. Their primary use is for lifting pallet boards, and they can move heavy loads into high up areas that are difficult to reach any other

HLOP (High Level Order Pickers)

High-level order picking consists of picking from the full available height of the racking units, taking complete advantage of this height.

Tow Tractor

Tow tractors are designed primarily for towing single or multiple trailers. Used widely in transport applications and the motor industry, tow tugs enable large amounts of goods to be moved at the same time to common or multiple destinations with a single operator

Emergency Abseil (Escape from height)

Operators trained in a safe and effective manner to escape from height from VNA or HLOP’s using harness, rope and descender device in the event of an emergency only.   Annual (yearly) refresher required due to the nature of this course.
